Got a mail saying below :-

We found that you are violating the License Agreement due offering public channels within your server. Please remove these violations to prevent your license from being revoked.

The following activities are not permitted with the TeamSpeak Non-Profit License:

  • Offering a public TeamSpeak server
  • Donations
  • Sponsoring
  • Commercial activity of any kind (e.g. shops, membership fees, selling of physical and virtual goods, etc.)
  • Advertisements
  • Linking to commercial websites

We would be glad to give you the opportunity to correct the license violations. Please reply to this ticket within 5 business days once you have removed the violation(s).

This is so messed up haha, we need to buy TeamSpeak via crowd sourced funding. All of us can pool money together and buy TeamSpeak, then release the code openly to be open source and free for all!

Along with this, we could jointly develop the project using code repositories and teamwork to add features such as a web-based client.. better UI/UX changes.

There's one thing I don't understand: If it is that easy to create a cross-platform voip software... Why don't you just do it and quit moaning about the shit TS does? Even TeaSpeak only works because it allows the old-school TeamSpeak client to connect. Nobody uses that ugly web client. So why waste money and buy an existing product instead of creating a new one?

Because if u release new VoIP with few users at start who would download random no name client when discord etc is available. If anyone decides to do it I am up for it to help

Why not just coding own software? Instead of giving money to Teamspeak?

Easier would be to just improve mumble, it's open source already.

Topic: No haven't gotten that mail, but I don't do the points of the list. What is classified as "public server"? No password?

Because if we buy out TeamSpeak with the agreement they can keep running the company at X% shares. They keep developing the system but we own code licensing etc. they get the funds they need to keep the project alive their way and we keep the project going our way. We can instruct them to focus more on their corporate customers like maybe 911 emergency dispatch voice software, NASA space communications, whatever. They can have bigger contracts and we can all have free for personal use software we love.

Google bought YouTube and it’s way bigger than it ever was before. But YouTube is still YouTube. Same thing.. we don’t want TeamSpeak to die is all? Some people don’t understand business moves but they need to happen once in a while or entire companies shutdown - think SEARS anyone?

I received a similar letter in 2012 or 2013. But that days it was possible to host public servers. I was accused of taking money. But it was not true, as I wrote in the answer. They apologized and that's it. Most likely, some goat sent them a letter of complaint :D
